According to Los Angeles news, under the grim situation of COVID-19, the South California Chinese American Federation donated anti-epidemic materials, including 5,000 face masks and 120 suits of protective clothing, to the Methodist Hospital of Southern California. Zhou Benli, as a member of the California State Assembly, also participated in this donation activity. Meanwhile, he spoke highly of the South California Chinese American Federation for its support to American hospitals’ fights against COVID-19.

The Head of the Methodist Hospital of Southern California reported that the anti-epidemic materials donated by overseas Chinese, on one hand, relieved the shortage of such materials; on the other hand, they brought hope to American medical workers and made them more confident to fight against COVID-19.

For the past days, overseas Chinese leaders of the South California Chinese American Federation and overseas Chinese volunteers have been traveling around for donations. So far, they have donated anti-epidemic materials to 12 mainstream community hospitals, welcomed, admired and praised by American medical workers.

It is reported that these days, overseas Chinese leaders of the South California Chinese American Federation and overseas Chinese volunteers divided themselves into several groups, transported or sent anti-epidemic materials to three local hospitals, two non-local hospitals and one center for the elderly.

Zhou Lu, as Chief Financial Officer of the South California Chinese American Federation, pledged the donation of 2,000 face masks. These face masks were sent by Chairman Shao Wen to the Columbia University Medical Center, Doctor Arnold P. Advincula of the Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, and the Flushing Hospital.

President Xiong Wensheng donated 5,000 medical face masks and 80 pieces of protective clothing to the Orange Coast Medical Center and the Torrance Memorial Medical Center respectively on behalf of the South California Chinese American Federation. In addition, he mailed 2,000 face masks to the VA Medical Center in Detroit to help them overcome the difficulties in fighting against COVID-19.

Li Shechao, as Honorary Chairman of the South California Chinese American Federation, Yu Zewei, as Chief Supervisor of the federation, and Hua Qiang, as Executive Deputy Supervisor of the federation, also visited the UC Irvine Medical Center, donating 10,000 medical face masks and 2,000 pairs of medical gloves to the center. Among the face masks, 4,000 face masks would be donated by He Zhuochen who is a Chinese student studying at UCI to designated objects.

The donation recipients and medical workers successively expressed their gratitude and admiration to the South California Chinese American Federation for its generosity. Four major leaders of the UCI Hospital even delivered a letter of thanks to the federation and reported that they expected to widely publicize benevolent acts of overseas Chinese communities.
