Global Eyes on Zhejiang | French artist obsessed with wood carving

French artist Guilhem Bouissou was deeply attracted by the exquisite wood carving art on Leifeng Pagoda when he traveled by the West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The delicate wood carvings inspired his interest in this ancient art.

After getting to know Lu Tingfeng, a wood carving master, Bouissou began to study wood carving. He incorporates contemporary art concepts in his works, not constrained by tradition, but also getting inspiration from local culture, mythology and pop culture elements.

Bouissou hopes to invite more international friends to explore the art of wood carving, Chinese calligraphy, painting and other arts to enjoy the unique charm of Chinese culture.
