The first event of “Experience China: A Symphony of Stories on China-U.S. People-to-People Friendship” was held at the Chinese Embassy in the US in Washington, DC, on Aug 27 to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World War II.

Exhibition of historical photos and videos

More than 200 guests from both countries attended the event, which included symphony music and storytelling to highlight shared wartime history, such as the Doolittle Raid rescue and the Flying Tigers’ aid to China. There was also an exhibition of historical photos and videos, commemorating the solidarity between the Chinese and American peoples.

Tong Lijuan, director of the Quzhou Municipal Museum (Doolittle Raid Memorial Hall), joined Mr.and Mrs. Kantenberger, descendants of the U.S. pilot Rodney Ross Wilder, to share stories of how Chinese villagers bravely rescued American pilots during the Doolittle Raid. Their presentation emphasized the enduring spirit of humanity and friendship.

The program was co-hosted by China’s State Council Information Office and Chinese embassies and consulates in the U.S., and organized by the China International Communications Center and the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation.
