German chemist Klaus Müllen is an internationally renowned scientist, dedicated to the design and synthesis of OLED materials, polymers, and carbon nanomaterials, with over 60 patents. In 2023, Müllen was elected as a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, his 11th national academician title. In February, as the chief scientist of Zhejiang Brilliant Optoelectronic Technology Co.Ltd., Müllen came to the company in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

Müllen became acquainted with Taizhou in March 2020, which continues his friendship with Dr Pan Junyou, founder of Brilliant Optoelectron. "Dr Pan and I met in Germany, and we had close connections in science and technology. It was his punch, his creativity and his initiative that attracted me to Taizhou. He showed me that this is a place suitable for research, a place with great prospects, which has made me a member of this place."

Besides like-minded friends, the business environment here also attracts Müllen to Taizhou. "I am very impressed by the support which the government is giving to such an initiative," said Müllen, "Our business development requires government support very much, which is also one of the things I like in Taizhou."

Müllen is convinced that optoelectronics will determine the future, and Taizhou's optoelectronic industry has strong resilience and broad development prospects. "The development of the optoelectronic industry requires the combination of creativity in basic research and the applications in the market, which is Taizhou's advantage."

In 2023, the "House of Academician Müllen", the Taizhou Academician's Integrated Innovation Base, was officially launched in Huangyan district of Taizhou. Since the first Optoelectronic Technology Seminar was held, more than 60 academicians and experts have been attracted to Taizhou for academic discussions.

Müllen is confident in the development of the company. "We need to attract more talents to come here and become a leader in the optoelectronic industry market. Taizhou is my second hometown, and I look forward to maintaining better connections with Taizhou in the future."
