On July 25, international students from Hangzhou Dianzi University joined a summer camp named "Daka China, Meet the Future Community" at the Guali Town in Xiaoshan District. Nearly 20 international students across the globe experienced the folklore culture, and leisure activities and also learned about the development of the construction of the "future community" at the Enjoy Town in Guali.

The event was co-organized by Hangzhou Dianzi University, "Daka China" Studio and Guali Town, aiming to help more international students to get into the grass-roots society of China and to understand China via a wide range of field experiences.

In the morning, the group of students visited the Guali Baseball Field, a newly-developed playground which is well known for its brand-new development and transformation from an old factory to a new baseball field in just three months. The students enjoyed the process of throwing the ball and getting it back with the help of the coaches and learned about how this new and beautiful baseball field was transformed from an old factory.

After that, the students arrived at the Ren Bonian Museum, which exhibits the artworks of Ren Bonian, a famous Chinese painter who is known for his bold brushstrokes and use of colour. Standing in front of the paintings, the students were very much impressed with the masterpieces of Ren Bonian and the essence of Chinese traditional painting.

The first half day of the trip left the students with a deep impression of the social development and the spirit of the Chinese culture.

After lunch, the students made a tour of the "enjoy town" of Guali, where they witnessed how digitalization has powered the transportation system of a local residential community and how local residents can borrow and return books with a digital system in which they can learn which kinds of books are the most popular ones.

At the later part of the trip, a ceremony was held to launch the "social practice base for international students" by Hangzhou Dianzi University and Guali Town. In the future, a variety of field activities and cross-cultural events will be carried out to improve the mutual understanding between Chinese people and those international students who are curious about China and its cultures.
