Jiaxing University welcomes international students from 34 countries

Jiaxing University in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, held its opening ceremony for the 2025 class of international students on Sept 28, bringing together 185 students from 34 countries.

The intake rose 20 percent from last year's 147 students, with newcomers this year coming from Portugal, Belarus, the Netherlands, and Colombia.

The university highlighted three key achievements in this year's enrollment: a broader geographic reach, stronger academic performance among admitted students, and an overall international student population exceeding 400 for the first time. The share of degree-seeking students has also grown notably.

Students expressed excitement about the program. Returning student Malik Elnura from Kazakhstan described Jiaxing University as his "second home", noting how his Chinese language skills have opened new opportunities. Performances, such as Vietnamese student Tran Thuy Ngoc's rendition of a Chinese song, highlighted the ceremony's spirit of cultural exchange.

Jiaxing University will continue to provide resources and platforms for international students to develop into globally competitive talent.
