The Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Railway Bridge installed its first 80-meter precast concrete box girder on Sept 27, marking the start of upper structure construction.
The box girder was placed between piers 107 and 108, signaling the shift from foundation and substructure work to large-scale assembly above water.
Spanning 29.2 kilometers across Hangzhou Bay, the bridge links Haiyan county in Jiaxing with Cixi city in Ningbo. Designed for trains running at 350 km per hour, the project is expected to significantly shorten travel time between the two regions.
The bridge's main structure is to be finished by the end of 2026, with final completion, including track laying and supporting systems, scheduled for the end of 2027.
