In the lush early summer of Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, picturesque scenes integrating modern life into rural landscapes unfold — bamboo groves swaying with the wind, egrets skimming lake surfaces, and intelligent facilities scattered throughout villages.

Over the past 20 years, Huzhou has exemplified the green development philosophy that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, becoming a model of sustainable development.

The city has prioritized ecological integrity over rapid economic gain. This commitment has resulted in significant economic and environmental achievements, with industrial added value of enterprises above the designated size increasing from 23.99 billion yuan ($3.34 billion) in 2005 to 133.63 billion yuan in 2024.

Innovative green initiatives have been key to Huzhou's success. The Tianneng Battery Group's industrial park based in Huzhou recycles 300,000 metric tons of used lead-acid batteries annually, while Jiuli Group's "future factory" reduces carbon emissions by 15,000 tons per year through cutting-edge technologies.

Huzhou's transformation extends beyond industry. The city has become a hub for talent and innovation, attracting young professionals and fostering new economic models. Initiatives like the "Global Partners" project in Yucun village in Anji county and the development of the South Taihu New Area are examples of how Huzhou is leading the way in sustainable urban and rural development.

As Huzhou continues to adhere to its green development philosophy, it sets a powerful example for China and the world, demonstrating that ecological preservation and economic prosperity can go hand in hand.
