The launching ceremony of Engineering Capacity Training Center for Global South was set at Taizhou University in Taizhou, Zhejiang province.
The launch was followed by the commencement of the first international engineering capacity training program, with nearly 200 participants. These included engineers from the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America, as well as representatives from Chinese enterprises, universities, and research institutions, who joined both online and in person.
The new center is a significant step in aligning Taizhou and Zhejiang with international engineering education. The center aims to cultivate globally minded and innovative engineering leaders, with a focus on serving the Asia-Pacific region while connecting with the world.
Chen Yanzhen, secretary-general of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific, stated that the center will foster mutual understanding, share insights, and help young engineers from the Global South enhance their skills and research capabilities, promoting engineering innovation and collaboration on a global scale.
The inaugural two-day training session focused on best practices in engineering education and capacity development. Experts delivered lectures on international accreditation, China's engineering competency framework, and the mutual recognition of engineer certification.
Looking ahead, the center will align with international standards, enhance its capabilities, and serve as a platform for global technological exchange and talent development.
