In the women's competition, Chinese player Yang Jiayu won the gold medal in 1 hour, 30 minutes and 3 seconds and continued to defend her title. Another Chinese player Ma Zhenxia, won the silver medal with a difference of 1 second. The bronze medal went to Nanako Fujii from Japan.

In the men's 20-kilometer walking race that ended earlier, Chinese players Zhang Jun and Wang Chaochao also won gold and silver medals respectively. On the first day of the track and field competition, the Chinese Legion got off to a good start.

This is the fifth time that the Chinese track and field team has won the men's and women's 20-kilometer race walking gold medals. As the traditional "big player" in gold medals in Chinese track and field, Chinese race walking has absolute strength in Asia. Although China's race walking suffered a setback at the World Athletics Championships in August, it is still dominant in the Asian Games. On October 4, the 35-kilometer race walking mixed team event will make its debut at the Asian Games, and the Chinese team is also capable of competing for gold in this event.

It is understood that the track and field competitions of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou will be held in seven competition days from September 29 to October 5. A total of 48 gold medals will be awarded, and the Chinese track and field team will participate in the competition in 40 events.
