After the Spring Festival, many young local workers in Longgong Town, together with a few out-of-town workers choose to stay in the town, which helps revitalize the local economy.

Longgong Town, located at the junction of Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, has experienced a widespread outflow of labour and a serious ageing population in the last decades. In order to retain talents and develop the economy, the local government has established the Bamboo  Industrial Park on January 1 this year and has formulated and issued ten policies to provide security and services for entrepreneurs and workers in terms of income, food, accommodation and other aspects.

Since the beginning of this year, more than 400 local young and middle-aged people have stayed in, and more than 100 out-of-town workers have been attracted to work here.

Longgong Bamboo Characteristic Industrial Park covers an area of 59 acres, and 10 enterprises have already settled in.

"Our town is rich in bamboo resources, but the lack of labour force is very restrictive to our development." The local official Ye Haishou said. The registered population of Longgong Town is nearly 8,000, but most of the young people work outside. Currently, more than 3,000 people live in the town with an average age of nearly 60 years old.

The arrival of young people have brought more vitality to our town, Ye said.

According to the secretary of the party committee Yao Defei, Longgong Town is going to draw up the next plan of introducing and retaining talents and young people.
