The passenger flow of the Yangtze River Delta railways during the Spring Festival travel rush will show the following features. First, the long-distance passenger flow from the Yangtze River Delta to traditional key destinations such as Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Chongqing will be started in advance before the Spring Festival. Second, the peaks of students going home and returning to school will happen during the Spring Festival travel rush. Before the Spring Festival, the flows of students will highly overlay the flows of migrant workers and visiting families. Third, the peak of passenger flow during the Spring Festival travel rush will last a long time. Fourth, since the Spring Festival of 2020 comes earlier than the previous year, the flow of migrant workers will continue even after the end of the travel rush, which is expected to extend to the end of February.

During the travel rush, the Yangtze River Delta railways will adopt a peak railway operation chart. 12 straight-through weekend lines such as Huangshan North-Beijing South G268, Nanchang-Quzhou D2106/5 will run every day, and several local weekend lines such as Hefei South-Huangshan North G7413 will run every day. And four lines suspended during off-season such as Ningbo-Chongqing K1248/5 and K1246/7, Huaihua-Shanghai South K534/3 will be resumed, and the running section of K1248/5 AND k1246/7 will be changed to Ningbo-Zhaotong.

According to statistics, during the travel rush, the number of passenger trips to be arranged by the railways of Yangtze River Delta will reach 1,276, an extra of 124.5 trips from previous year and a year-on-year growth of 10.8%, including 950 trips of multiple-unit trains, accounting for 74.5% of all trips made, an extra of 143.5 than previous year and a year-on-year growth of 17.8%. The transport capacity is stronger than the last Spring Festival travel rush. Thus far, the Yangtze River Delta plans to arrange 3,282 trains of coupled running during the travel rush and increase over 1.80 million seats.

According to the railway administration, it’s the common responsibility of the society to make the Spring Festival travel rush safer, warmer and more orderly.
