As the Hangzhou Asian Games draws nearer, various Asian Games elements are becoming more and more visible in the streets. In January this year, the “City Display Master Plan for the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 and Asian Para Games Hangzhou 2022”, prepared by the team of Chen Zhaohui, Xu Dalu, Guo Jinyong, Zhang Wen, and Li Jie from the China Academy of Art, was officially released online.

The Hangzhou Asian Games Theme Bus is one of the applications derived from the Hangzhou Asian Games emblem, which is used as part of the Asian Games brand image & look construction. It decorates the city of Hangzhou while promoting the Hangzhou Asian Games.

As an important part of the city's image, the integrated creation of night scenery is an imaginative piece of content. Hangzhou itself has an excellent night landscape infrastructure, whether it is the light shows on the banks of the West Lake, the Grand Canal, and the Qiantang River, or the various large screens around the city with brilliant colors and special effects, all of which are quite distinctive. On this foundation, the designers have made specifications on how the visual elements of the Asian Games should be combined.

It is worth mentioning that this comprehensive night view creation will also include interactive elements, using various technologies such as AR, VR, and XR to present a great-looking and fun night view with a more modern touch. In some specific spots, citizens and visitors can watch one of the Asian Games mascots, Lianlian, rowing around the lake via their mobile phones, while also checking out the location's introduction and learning about its history and story.

The Hangzhou Asian Games is a visible "business card" for the city of Hangzhou. The design of the image & look is a comprehensive reflection of the culture of the Asian Games and the culture of the host city. In the process of implementation, the characteristics and conditions of each landing space are different, and a systematic operating mechanism and management model is needed to ensure that all the image designs of landscapes finally convey the same voice.
