Chen Yaodong is 71 years old. As a German-born overseas Chinese, Chen is very much attached to his mother country - China, as well as his hometown - Qingtian County. Chen returned back to Qingtian County at the age of 7 and became a teacher afterwards. From then on, Chen has been dedicated to communication affairs with overseas Chinese for almost 20 years.

Since the opening of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, Chen has been working hard to deliver the spirit of the session to his county fellows. When he was considering how to choose the best to communicate with his fellows, the Chinese riff came to his mind.

Once upon a time, Chen went to the countryside to deliver public presentations, and he chose to use the Chinese riff to inspire the village people. From the feedback of the audience, his presentations were regarded as digestible and easy to follow. From then on, Chen decided to use the genre of Chinese to give his keynotes.
