On the morning of September 16, 2021, Zhengguo, a Ningbo University of Finance and Economics teacher, drove to work as usual. When passing through Zhejiang Cixi International Trade Mansion, she noticed that a box van was openly defying traffic police who did the routine inspection. 

The unbridled van driver moved forward with the traffic police grabbing the outer door, feet off the ground.

“It was dangerous the driver was too aggressive, and completely disregarded the life and safety of the traffic police." Zheng Guo said, "I was thinking, I had to stop the box van immediately!" The situation was critical, Zheng Guo immediately stepped on the accelerator, cutting in on the van from the left lane, trying to stop the van.

However, setting on running away, the driver ran into Zhengguo’s car and continued to run away regardless of the traffic police clinging to it and Zhengguo’s car. Afterwards, the police quickly organized forces to intercept and finally, have both driver and van under control.

When looking back, Zhengguo still has a lingering fear. According to her, "I never regret doing it".

Recently, Zhengguo was awarded the First-class Merit of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province for the courageous act of justice.

Zhengguo donated part of the award money and solatia to the university education foundation, which is used to support the university’s education programme and public service work of teachers and students.
