Light in the tunnel: let him lean on my shoulder

Since April, a short video has gone viral on Weibo, a twitter-like social media, mainly with the content that a young man gives his shoulder to a sleeping migrant worker without any move. In the 10-second video, a migrant worker falls asleep on the subway, his head resting on the shoulder of a male stranger next to him. At first, the young man was stunned, but he did not move, probably worried about waking him up. The young man's arm holding the phone remained in the original position and did not move.

Netizens are not miser in praising comments to the young man, such as “details draw out personality, small doings show mind”, “the hard life entailing more tolerance, giving a thumb-up to the male” and “the young man is one of my friends.”

The gentleman who comes from Shaoxing is called Chen Mingjie, born in 1989 and at the age of 33. To his surprise, it was out of his expectation that the small behavior of kindness has won so much popularity in the Internet and his awareness that the scene was shot by someone. According to him, things happened on April 16th. During his travel in the subway, he was suddenly leaned on by a man like a migrant worker whose black pants and shoes were smeared with concrete and who took a big suitcase, a white plastic bucket with stuff in it with him. For the worker’s tiredness, he didn’t move and asked him to remove. Finally, he was informed by his colleague who came across the video online.

For Chen Mingjie, thing matters more on the support given to people burnt out than whether the worker is aware of it or not. It is finely nice that this sort of short-term support can comfort him.
