The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship announced its 15 Social Innovators of the Year 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland, on Jan 18.

The foundation announced the awards as part of The Davos Agenda, a series of virtual meetings hosted by the World Economic Forum.

The only Chinese national among the 15 awardees were Hangzhou-based businessman Wenfeng (Jim) Wei, founder and CEO of DaddyLab.

"'Daddy Wei' is a social media champion for safer consumer goods. His enterprise DaddyLab is a one-stop-shop for trusted product testing and consumer rights advice for families," the award speech reads.

"With over 50 million followers, Jim Wei, better known as Daddy Wei, is using his presence on social media to keep consumers safe from toxic products. His organization Daddylab was founded in 2015 to safeguard the health of his young daughter after finding toxic chemicals on the cover of her children's book. Today Daddylab is a trusted social platform that combines the function of a third-party testing agency, a market watchdog, a consumer rights advocacy forum and an e-commerce platform selling over 300 types of products that are tested in a transparent, scientific, verifiable and reproducible way," reads an introduction about Wei on the official website of the World Economic Forum.
