A systematic cultural ritual has been constructed around Chinese New Year, including the concept, etiquettes, cuisines, taboos, etc. As part of the Chinese festival culture system, Chinese New Year Culture reflects the modules, patterns, and structures of Chinese culture through its conception, practice, symbol, etc.
Zhejiang Art Museum has launched an art exhibition themed on the culture and design of the Chinese New Year. The exhibition consists of six chapters, including "New Design of New Year Picture", "New Design of Door Gods", "New Design of New Year Poster", "New Design of FU Character", "New Design of Red Envelope", and "New Design of Chinese Folk Toys".

It analyzes the symbolic meaning behind the practice, procedures, colors, and symbols through the interpretation of concepts and visual display of traditional Chinese New Year culture. It traces various handicraft systems behind each procedure and norms adopted in the folk culture of different regions and in works from domestic art colleges and universities such as the China Academy of Art. It presents all these rituals and crafts to reproduces the cultural system. It displays designs creatively transforming and innovatively developing the existing traditional folk culture on Chinese New Year with the adoption of contemporary art. It demonstrates a Chinese New Year culture coined with contemporary value, cultural characteristics, and reinvention flexibility.
