Editor’s Note: China has been committed to green development and digital transformation. And recently, Chinese policymakers have sent a clear signal to perk up the economy and stabilize the capital market amid a complex external environment and global uncertainties. Let’s take a look at what China has done to realize them in today’s China Spotlight.

1. China has confidence and strength to sustain development

On Wednesday, the financial stability and development committee under China's State Council held a meeting to study the current economic situation and issues of the capital market. The meeting pointed out that in the current complex situation, the most crucial thing is to continue to pursue development as the Party's top priority in governance. The meeting also stressed that relevant authorities should earnestly shoulder their responsibilities, actively introduce market-friendly policies and prudently introduce policies with a contractionary effect. They should timely respond to issues that draw attention from the market. Any policy that has a significant impact on the capital market should be coordinated with the financial regulatory authorities in advance to maintain stable and consistent expectations.

2. High-tech, green development complementary

China's greater efforts to promote the integration of the industrial internet, big data, artificial intelligence, 5G, and other next-generation information technologies with green manufacturing will bolster the high-quality and low-carbon development of the industrial economy and inject new impetus into economic growth, officials and experts said.

They said the moves, which align with China's pledge to peak the country's carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, will also improve energy utilization efficiency and drive industrial structure upgrades.

3. Chinese cities gather pace in facilitating rural e-commerce

In order to better leverage e-commerce to sell high-quality agricultural products to more consumers and make logistics services more efficient and cost-effective, various cities in China have carried out helpful explorations to enhance the brand building and improve logistics systems.

In recent years, flourishing e-commerce in vast rural areas across China has served as a new platform for the circulation of agricultural products, broadened the channels for farmers to increase their income, and stimulated the potential for rural vitalization.

4. Track-laying begins on China's first sea-crossing high-speed railway

A pair of 500-meter steel rails was successfully laid on a concrete bed at Putian railway station Thursday in east China's Fujian Province, marking the beginning of track-laying work on the country's first sea-crossing high-speed railway.

The 277-km railway links the provincial capital of Fuzhou with the port city of Xiamen. With a designed speed of 350 km per hour, it is expected to slash the travel time between the two cities within one hour.

5. China successfully launches Yaogan-34 02 remote sensing satellite

China successfully sent a new remote sensing satellite of the Yaogan-34 series into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 3:09 p.m. on Thursday (Beijing Time). The Yaogan-34 02 satellite was carried by a Long March-4C rocket and successfully entered its planned orbit.

This remote sensing satellite will be used for the survey of land resources, urban planning, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and reduction.
