Farmers' Library in Zhongguan town, Deqinn country, and a chain of Xinhua Bookstore in Puyuan, Tongxiang city, both of which are the only two selected physical stores, were honored with the award of the national advanced collective.

How do the two geographically disadvantaged but financially booming bookstores successfully contribute to cultural services that the local people thumb up? The key is their combined model of non-profit running mechanism and marketization, whose function consolidates the foundation of public culture.

Besides, social programs from multiple routes do much favor to their success. As a model chain of Xinhua Bookstore, the bookstore in Tongxiang, with its huge number of books covering myriads of areas, provides services for moth than five public primary and middle schools. Meanwhile, by introducing a chain management system from the bookstore titan group, the countryside store is able to renew types of books, conduct aligned reading activities, and upgrade its services for customers. For the welfare of students who is the main targeted buyers, the store provides nursing service from 7 a.m. to 9:30 in the evening.

Through the joint efforts from governments in Zhejiang province and the promotion of the group, the number of chain stores across Zhejiang has reached above 500, occupying areas of more than 60, 000 square meters and employing thousands of people. It is a promising vision that the network characterizing the small size and quality will continue to energize grassroots’ motivation to read and mobilize the "all people reading" campaign in a bid to boom the cultural industry and build a more intelligent society.
