The World Conference on Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) will be held in Qingtian, Zhejiang from July 17 to 19.

 

The theme of this conference is "Agricultural Heritage for Rural Prosperity". The conference has engaged relevant countries, regions, international organizations and academics to discuss major issues such as globally important agricultural cultural heritage and food system resilience, sustainable rural development, and farmers' livelihood improvement.

 

The conference has invited the Ministers of Agriculture of Iran, Italy, Peru, Thailand, Tanzania and other countries, as well as the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the envoys of France, Peru, Algeria and other countries in China. Senior representatives of international institutions such as UNESCO and the World Food Programme, as well as relevant experts, scholars and business representatives will also attend the meeting. This is the largest, highest-level and most influential conference organized by the host country of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems in the 20 years since the FAO launched the Globally Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage Initiative.
