At 23:15 local time on March 3, Xiamen Airlines flight MF891 departing from Xiamen landed at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali. This is the first direct commercial scheduled flight from mainland China to Bali since the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to express warm welcome to Chinese tourists visiting Bali, the airport prepared a "Water Gate" welcome ceremony and presented exquisite souvenirs to each passenger. Local government officials, China market consultant of Bali Tourism Association, as well as principals of airport authority, immigration bureau and ground agent company attended the ceremony.

Currently, MF891 operated by Xiamen Airlines is the only direct flight from mainland China to Bali. This flight departs from Xiamen at 17:45 every day and arrives in Bali at 23:15. The return flight departs from Bali at 00:15 and arrives in Xiamen at 06:00. Passengers from cities in mainland China can also fly to Bali via Xiamen.

For many years, China has been one of the largest source countries of tourists to Bali, and the number of Chinese tourists visiting Bali reached 1.4 million per year at its peak. At present, the process of returning to China from Indonesia has been simplified. Starting from March 1, people who take direct flights from Indonesia to China can use antigen testing (including self-testing with kits) instead of nucleic acid testing.
