On October 21, the 2022 autumn experiential study trip for international students was carried out by the School of International Education of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU), including visiting Zhejiang Linctex Digital Technology Ltd. (Style3D), ZSTU Linping Campus and Future Space for Intangible Cultural Heritage. Students were exposed to the collision between digital technology and intangible cultural heritage, and the charm of "Metaverse", fashion and traditional culture. Nearly 40 international students from 12 countries participated in this study trip.

Experience the digitization reform in China through the application of digital technology in the fashion industry

The clothes and fabrics, visual effect display and fashion show were all presented on the scene in virtual images made by 3D technology. At the first stop of the trip, international students visited Zhejiang Linctex Digital Technology Ltd. (Style3D). The company is committed to reconstructing the fashion industry with 3D digitization, empowering Chinese garment enterprises with innovative science and technology and a strong industrial foundation. LUNKAMBA KAIBA TRYPHENE is an international student majoring in fashion design and engineering at the School of International Education and the International Institute of Fashion Technology. Fashion design and production are compulsory courses. "From design, fabric selection, and proofing to quantitative production, 3D technology is used to show the whole process of garment production, so that people can have a more intuitive understanding of the fashion industry. Compared with traditional methods, this not only improves efficiency but also is more economical and environmentally friendly." TRYPHENE said. "The integration of digitization and fashion makes me look forward to the development of the fashion industry in the future. Perhaps in the future, I will be able to show the clothes I designed to my hometown through the Internet in China. They can select and buy, and even produce and sell, so as to drive the economic development of my hometown."

Understand cultural common prosperity through the integration of intangible cultural heritage and urban life

The "Future Space for Intangible Cultural Heritage" in Linping District has brought intangible cultural heritage into contemporary life with interactive experience and creativity, serving as a new carrier for telling the story of cultural prosperity. In the "Future Space for Intangible Cultural Heritage", international students visited and learned about the traditional intangible cultural heritage culture, such as rolling lamps, silk wadding techniques, traditional cookie and pastry making techniques, and Hangzhou satin weaving techniques. "Plant dyeing is very interesting. Although everyone's materials and production process are the same, the works are different and unique."

"I seem to have seen the traditional Chinese way of life by experiencing the techniques of dyeing and making tea cookies and pastries. Such cultural experience activities are very vivid and impressive," Dongbo Enoch Kwateh, who is an international student from the School of Computer Science and Technology (School of Artificial Intelligence).

This study trip is part of a series of activities for the education on China’s national conditions for international students in Zhejiang from the perspective of "Zheli". It aims to help international students learn more about "Digital China" and "Cultural China" by providing them with access to Zhejiang's digital technology and fashion innovation breakthroughs, as well as the integration of intangible cultural heritage culture and urban life, in the hope that they are able to promote Chinese culture to the world, and spread the voice of China as well.
