Powered by a 38.7 percent jump in automobile manufacturing, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, posted the province's third-fastest GDP growth in the first half of 2025, with Geely's Linhai plant standing out for both production efficiency and advanced flood resilience.
Located just two kilometers from the coastline, the Linhai facility produces one vehicle every minute and is equipped with advanced flood protection systems that have drawn industry-wide attention.
The plant faces two or three typhoons or flooding events each year. Its flood defense system integrates every rooftop, pipeline, and section of landscaping into a comprehensive design. Drainage pipes are made of welded stainless steel, and all drainage outlets are positioned 0.5 meters above the surrounding river's once-in-a-century flood level. Permeable ground surfaces are designed with precise vegetation and gravel depth to accelerate water dispersal, forming a sponge-like drainage network.
By combining high-efficiency production with robust safety systems, Geely's Linhai plant demonstrates the technical strength and resilience of China's manufacturing.
