Wang Jun from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics took home the prestigious China Goods Design Award for her wearable nail art concept titled Beautifly: Artistic Fingertip Butterfly.
Launched in March 2024, this year's competition focused on global trends in small commodities and product iteration needs from businesses. It aimed to bridge creative design with market application and invited participation from major market players, manufacturers, and industry associations in five leading sectors.
According to the organizers, the main competition track received 5,494 entries from 355 universities, covering 27 provinces and four municipalities across China.
A special AI category was introduced for the first time, reflecting the growing integration of artificial intelligence in design.
Judges noted that many AI-generated design prompts submitted alongside the entries demonstrated an unexpectedly deep understanding of small commodities. The diverse submissions offered fresh interpretations of traditional Chinese aesthetics while also revealing innovative applications of AI in design scenarios.
