Quzhou will host the 2025 National Athletics Championships from Aug 1 to 4, which have been held in the city for the past two years. The announcement was made during a news conference on July 22.
The championships, known as China's biggest and most competitive athletics event, promise exciting highlights this year.
The opening ceremony and high jump finals will occur on Aug 1 in the Shuitingmen historical and cultural block of the Quzhou Ancient City Cultural Tourism Zone, while the main events from Aug 2 to 4 will be held at the stadium of Quzhou Sports Center.
A total of 33 teams from across the country, comprising over 1,440 athletes, coaches, and staff, will participate. Among them, 840 athletes will compete in 38 events, including sprints, middle-distance races, long jump, and shot put. The event will feature both seasoned athletes and emerging talents.
The street competitions will be enhanced this year, with both men's and women's high jump events held in the Shuitingmen historical and cultural block. This fresh approach blends sports with the city's urban landscape, allowing spectators to experience the event up close.
The championships aim to integrate sports with tourism, encouraging visitors to explore local attractions and enjoy regional delicacies. Enhanced spectator experiences include online booking for seamless access and involvement.
