On the way to Qinghai of northwest China, the team members of the "Haishan Project" from Zhejiang Ocean University are impressed with the beautiful scenery along the way. The team is here for volunteer teaching. Among the team members, Rakib Hasan Ark is the only international student who comes from Bangladesh. He said that by joining this voluntary teaching, he can, on the one hand, raise children’s interest in learning English, on the other hand, can personally feel the story of winning the "battle against poverty" in the western region of China under the strong leadership of the Chinese government. 

During the first few days, Rakib suffered a lot from serious altitude sickness. But he said that when watching the students' smiles and eyes, he quickly got into the state. "With the combination of scenarios, interactive games, immersive experiences, students became more confident, and competed to raise their hands to answer my questions," Rakib said.

"It would be better to see once than to hear a hundred times," President Xi Jinping wrote in a letter to international students at Peking University, "you are welcome to visit different parts of China to gain a deep insight into the real China and to share your thoughts and experiences with more people so as to play a positive role in promoting mutual understanding among people of all countries," Rakib said that he has gained a lot in this volunteer teaching activity. "I feel the integration and innovation of multi-cultures and the great unity of ethnic minorities under the leadership of the CPC. It is a great honor for me to have the opportunity to have an in-depth exchange with the local educators on the topic of local English education." Rakib said.

Professor Xu Shiyuan, vice president of Zhejiang Ocean University said "the 'Haishan Project' meets the need to promote the joint high-quality development of the East and the West of China, and is a process of educating people and self-education for practitioners. In this process, they will gradually realize self-sublimation."
