In recent years, Zhejiang has rolled out a series of actions to help the elderly to settle into the digital world. For example, the elderly people are free to continue their pursuit of knowledge through "third-age" infrastructures such as the intelligent universities for the elderly, online courses, live-streaming, and online shopping platforms, and so forth. 


A good example is Zhejiang's homemade smart campus system of pan-Zhejiang universities for the elderly. Statistics show that more than 300,000 elderly people have made registration online and have finished their payment through this system. With the empowerment of this system, the "third-age" universities across Zhejiang have also released live-streaming and online courses, exploring new modes of online teaching for old adults.

Moreover, the newly-launched "Featured Mall for Happy Living" app can provide over 1,000 kinds of products, covering areas of health care, recreation services, health monitoring, and so forth. Compared with other competitors, this application presses closer to the needs of elderly people. For instance, the font is larger, the logo is more prominent. So far, the app has attracted nearly 50,000 elderly people to register and the turnover has achieved more than 10 million yuan. 


The 82-year-old Li Qiyi has benefited a lot from this app. He said during the interview that, "I found that this application has provided a quite lot of goods for our old people, and it's much convenient to shop without going outside." 

 

In addition, the Department for the Elderly of Zhejiang Province has built up a province-wide service management system for the retired people. Up to now, more than Up to now, more than 600,000 elderly people have been included in the system's database and enjoy the precise services brought by digitalization.
