Chinese mainland reports 23 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland on Sunday recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases, two locally transmitted and 21 from overseas, the National Health Commission announced on Monday. 


The two local cases were detected in northeast China's Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces.


Fifteen new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were also recorded, while 208 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.  


No COVID-19 deaths were registered on Sunday. Meanwhile, 14 patients were discharged from hospitals. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,852, with 4,634 deaths.


The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:  


Hong Kong: 8,152 (6,837 recoveries, 130 deaths)


Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)  


Taiwan: 766 (627 recoveries, 7 deaths)
