Globally, as of 6:03 pm CEST on Thursday, there have been 13,378,853 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 580,045 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 138,267 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 3,563,848, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:35 am BJT on Friday.

  

Brazil has confirmed the total number of infections to 2,012,151. The death toll grew to 76,688.

  

India has confirmed the total number of infections to 968,876. The death toll grew to 24,915.

  

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 751,612 with 11,920 deaths.

  

It is followed by Peru with 341,586 infections and 12,615 deaths, South Africa with 324,221 infections and 4,669 deaths, Chile with 323,698 cases and 7,290 deaths and Mexico with 317,635 cases and 36,906 deaths

  

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 294,112, with the number of deaths at 45,204, according to the JHU virus tracker.

  

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iran have increased to 267,061 with 13,608 deaths.
