Stories of international students from Wenzhou Medical University show China's active engagement in the fight against the COVID-19

From April 14 to April 27, the School of International Studies of Wenzhou Medical University launched an International Students Online Speech Competition with the theme of "A Shared Anti-pandemic Battle, A Shared Bright Future", in order to encourage the university's international students to share their feelings and stories about 


The competition so far has received a total of 41 pieces of works in both Chinese and English. The themes covered a variety of topics such as offering bits of anti-pandemic knowledge, representations of key events, stories about the joint fight against the COVID-19 between Chinese and foreign teachers, and students, and so on. 



Alyafeai from Yemen greatly admired China's quick response of building up a 1000-bed makeshift hospital within only 10 days. 



Hafiza from South Africa gave suggestions on how everyone can contribute to the battle against the pandemic by following some simple guidelines, 

such as wearing face masks when going out, washing hands frequently, and developing good personal hygiene habits. 


Jonas from Ghana was keenly aware of China's brave commitment to the fight against the pandemic. China's determination to fight the epidemic will surely bring foreign students back to their second home. 


Finally, the first prize went to Alyafeai from Yemen and the Hafiza from South Africa. Three students won the second prize, five for the third prize and ten for excellency prize. 


Miao Liyi, one of the judges of the competition said since the outbreak of COVID-19, Chinese people have been working together with the international community to fight against the pandemic. During this critical period, he was touched by the active engagement of the university's international students, and their generous contribution to Wenzhou, their "second hometown". He looked forward to more vivid stories from the international students' community.
