As universities and colleges across the world rapidly shift their learning, teaching, and assessments online in response to the pandemic outbreak, academics, especially in Zhejiang, want to make this move a little bit further.

What does it look like to be your own client? This question is an assignment given out by the teach Shi Yingqi from Zhejiang Normal University to his students on a course called "Interior Design of Residential Space". He encourages the students to renovate their homes by using local materials.

The students who have subscribed to the course are asked to take a measurement of their homes and set the demand for themselves and decide the matches and decorations and conclude with an online display of their projects, so as to rejuvenate their old houses. The assignment has taken eight classes and lasted for four weeks long.

By taking the course step by step, students are able to determine the styles and decide the design drawings on their own with the help of their teacher Mr. Shi. "The cloud-based teaching method is a new attempt for us. It will offer great help and convenience in interior design teaching," he said.
