Dr. Dlamini-Zuma, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs of South Africa announced amendments to South Africa's confinement regulations.


At a media briefing on Thursday (April 16), Dlamini-Zuma said the lockdown would be lifted in a gradual manner and restrictions would continue even if it were lifted.


"Because we're going to open the lockdown in a normal way instead of stopping the lockdown in a sudden way," Dlamini-Zuma said.

9.Time problem! Will Food Supplies Cause Social Unrest During Lockdown of South Africa?


There is growing concern that crime and social unrest in South Africa will increase dramatically as despair over food supplies spreads to streets and shops across the country.


A senior police officer briefed News 24 on concerns raised at this week's high-level government meeting, saying it was only a matter of time before protests and robberies erupted to an uncontrollable scale.
