Kat and Taylor, two British post-90s girls, both work in Hangzhou. After returning to Hangzhou in early March, they cooperated with the Baidanghai Community of Xixi Street, West Lake District, to do home quarantine, during which they shot more than 50 videos about their experience of home quarantine.

Be a role model for the kids

Kat, at the age of 25, has been working as a foreign language teacher at a kindergarten in Hangzhou since September last year. She took a flight back to Hangzhou on March 4 after reporting to the Baidanghai community in West Lake District, where she lives, by phone in late February.

After returning to Hangzhou on the morning of March 5, she first reported to the community staff who told her to stay at home for self-quarantine for 14 days, and she immediately agreed.

Three days later, her colleague and roommate, 24-year-old Taylor, returned from a vacation in Vietnam, and they began their life of quarantine.

The first video they posted online was about the community staff delivering food to their apartment. They said in the video that although they were quarantined, they were not forgotten and the community cared about them as considerately as it did other residents.

The video attracted thousands of viewers from the UK and dozens of viewers left messages, which gave the two girls much confidence. In the days to come, they would continue to shoot videos every day about their life of quarantine.

Seek joy in quarantine

On March 12, Hangzhou West Lake District Government issued a policy that people returning to Hangzhou from foreign countries could apply for nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 on a voluntary basis. After learning this, Katerina and Taylor put in their application immediately to the community.

At 9 a.m. on March 14, the community staff and medical staff went to their apartment to do the test. They had live video streaming with their phones.

On March 10, they began to offer online courses for their students. Their interesting and rich courses were well-received by their students. But what the children were more concerned about was how the two teachers got through the quarantine period. Then they sent their video about life in quarantine to the class WeChat group and told their students to stay in a good mood even during the quarantine.

Everyone needs to be vigilant

"It's great to see the city recovering day by day," Katerina said that as the city was recovering from the disaster, she looked forward to going back to school and meeting their students.

Both Katerina and Taylor were anxious about the worsening epidemic situation in other countries. They said that although China was recovering, we still needed to attach great importance to epidemic prevention and everyone should be more vigilant.
