At 20:00 on the evening of 28th March (13:00 in the afternoon of the same day in France and Italy), the "third online public welfare class for overseas Chinese people's children was broadcast on time. More than 800 overseas Chinese children in France and Italy attended this class online, interacting with teachers of Wenzhou, including Bao Hanli and Hu Chunxiu. While familiar dialects and kind voices were echoing in their ears, the “cloud” of their homeland was flying farther and farther away in foreign countries.

Since over 30 overseas Chinese people's children from France attended the cloud-based class of the Silicon Valley School of Wenzhou Daily last week, the number of French Chinese families attending online classes had increased to more than 200 yesterday. With the aggravation of COVID-19 abroad, schooling has been completely suspended in France. After knowing that Italian overseas compatriots’ children studied online on the platform of the Silicon Valley School of Wenzhou Daily, the heads of the Chinese School of the Association of Chinese Residents in France and Le Pont contacted the sponsor, in hope of organizing "Classes Suspended but Learning Continues" in France to help French Wenzhounese compatriots’ children learn online at home.

Yesterday, two live public welfare classes were taught by Hu Chunxiu, an elite among teachers of Wenzhou, and Bao Hangli, the Executive Director of the Institute of European Overseas Chinese Education, Wenzhou University. Hu Chunxiu taught lower-grade students of elementary schools the picture book My Dad by Anthony Browne, who is an English painter. By interpreting the father’s role in that work, she led children to get a new understanding of their father and know about their father’s excellent qualities. Associate Professor Bao Hanli gave a public welfare class named How to Let Children Love Learning to parents. She analyzed several major disadvantages in today’s family education in combination with her personal experiences, teaching parents how to let their children become enthusiastic about learning and create harmonious relationships with their children.

“I really appreciate the help from families of my hometown. They show all overseas compatriots far away from their care and love, letting foreign children also study Chinese online during the suspension of classes,” said Ren Limin, the Chairman of the Association of Chinese Residents in France. The daughter of the overseas compatriot Jin Qingting showed great interest in the online class yesterday and reported that she would continue attending the classes.

In order that more overseas compatriots’ children would acquire the wonderful content of online classes, the Silicon Valley School of Wenzhou Daily launched the function of video replay. From next month, Ma Xinqin, an Associate Professor from the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, the College of Chinese Language and Culture, will join in the cloud-based classes, delivering students and their parents' courses classes like Tracing Back to Histories and Cultures of Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties.
