One week ago, Irish Professor Oisín O'Connell assembled over 30 foreign experts and doctors to listen to introductions of the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University regarding Chinese schemes for preventing and controlling COVID-19, pioneering moves of Zhejiang and the hospital’s experience on March 13th. The Second Hospital of Zhejiang University shared their experience without reservation, benefiting a lot to Irish experts and doctors.

At 6:00 p.m. of March 20th (10:00 a.m. in Ireland), the Irish national radio and TV station remotely contacted the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University through the internet and performed a video interview over a distance of 8,000 to 9,000 km, in order that Irish people could better understand China’s experience in epidemic prevention and control.

At 6:00 p.m., the video interview started punctually.

Irish participants included professors of respiratory internal medicine, Professor Oisín O'Connell (a member of the Irish national committee for COVID-19), doctors from the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Cork University Hospital, Professor Mary Horgan (an internist), Irish doctor Paul O'Brien, and David McCullagh, an anchor of the Irish national radio & TV station.

Unlike the previous remote communication conducted one week ago, this video program mainly aimed at people of Ireland and other areas of Europe. Thus, two citizens who got involved in the whole process of epidemic prevention and control in Hangzhou showed up on-site to share their feelings for this special period dependent upon their personal experiences.

After interviewing the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University for more than an hour, the Irish party had in-depth discussions. “China has made many efforts to fight against the epidemic. Although it is quite populous, it has effectively controlled the epidemic in time. They have accumulated valuable experience, which is worth our leaning!” Several Irish medical experts conveyed what they had learned and their opinions after interviewing those medical experts.
