I am a student at the University of Sheffield in the UK. This year's journey home made me deeply appreciate the strength of the overseas Chinese Federation and the warmth of my hometown. At the beginning of the new year, COVID-19 disrupted people's pace of life.

As a front-line medical staff, my mother has not been home since January 28 due to work needs. At the beginning of the epidemic, the cadres of Xiacheng overseas Chinese Federation contacted me and asked me about my life abroad, they also told me that they would help take care of my elderly grandparents. As the epidemic continues to spread around the world, strong homesickness has strengthened my determination to go home immediately, but how to go home in this special period has become particularly complicated. I have no relatives abroad, and I can't get in touch with my mother far away, which makes me feel very helpless and anxious. When I was at a loss, I suddenly thought that I could contact the staff of the overseas Chinese Federation in the community.

I left a message on WeChat to Yang, a cadre of Xiacheng overseas Chinese Federation, expressing my determination to return to China and hope to get help. It was early in the morning in China, and I didn't expect her to reply immediately, but when I saw "Operation guide of health information pre-declaration platform for overseas Chinese returning home", I finally felt relieved. Considering that there are only elderly grandparents at home, I also put forward the idea of centralized isolation to her, and then she filled in the application for me at the first time and obtained the consent of the relevant departments.

I started from Heathrow Airport in London and landed at Pudong Airport in Shanghai on March 11. I kept in touch with aunt Yang through WeChat. She always paid close attention to my return trip.

After taking the Zhejiang bus from Shanghai Pudong airport to the intersection of Jiashan Dayun Expressway, I was sent to the central isolation station by the CDC coordinated by Xiacheng District Health and health administration. The whole process was seamless and had no contact with other unrelated personnel. Every time I change the bus, aunt Yang will tell me, "You must make sure it's the bus of Xiacheng. Don't take the wrong bus". This concern stayed with me until I checked into the isolation hotel.
