Recently, the result of "Historical Figures of East Asian Cultural Exchange in Wenzhou" hosted by Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism and organized by Wenzhou Overseas Media Center has been officially announced. 

This selection is one of the series of activities for Wenzhou to create the "Cultural City of East Asia". It fully showcases the history of cultural exchanges between Wenzhou, Japan and South Korea, effectively promotes building Wenzhou into the "Cultural City of East Asia", greatly inspires the general public’s sense of pride and cultural identity, and comprehensively enhances the cultural communication and influence of Wenzhou. The area coverage of the selected historical figures is mainly within the current Wenzhou administrative area. The selected historical figures are the deceased celebrities with historical records in a time ranging from the Han Dynasty to the period of the Republic of China. All the historical figures are required to make an outstanding contribution or have an important influence on the promotion of cultural exchanges between Wenzhou and Japan and South Korea in a certain field.

Since its launch in March 2021, the activity has attracted wide attention and active participation from Wenzhou people at home and abroad. After being nominated by experts and recommended by the general public, then after several rounds of review by the expert committee, and combined with the results of online voting, 20 deceased celebrities were finally selected as "Historical Figures of East Asian Cultural Exchange in Wenzhou".
