Zhejiang Art Museum launches an art teachers support plan to propel art education

On the afternoon of September 8, Zhejiang Art Museum held a ceremony to start up the "Hundreds of Schools, Hundreds of Teachers" art teachers support plan. This plan is jointly initiated by Zhejiang Art Museum and Hangzhou Basic Education Research Office. At the ceremony, the Zhejiang Art Museum presented nearly 700,000 yuan (approximately 108,360 dollars) worth of fine art books to over one hundred primary and secondary schools from thirteen districts and counties in Hangzhou.

Ying Jinfei, director of Zhejiang Art Museum, mentioned that these art books are not available on the market and are scarce resources, including but not limited to a collection of works by individual artists, a series of historical paintings about Zhejiang’s major historical events, works by famous modern calligraphers and painters. These art books are rich in content.

At the ceremony, Zhejiang Art Museum as well presented the "Reading & paintings" series of mini-lectures about patriotism in the form of air radio recorded on CDs to Hangzhou Basic Education Research Office and all art teachers.

 

From late September on, the "Hundreds of Schools, Hundreds of Teachers" art teachers support plan will join forces with the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou Botanical Garden, and many other institutions to launch teacher training camps with distinctive local characteristics and rich themes, such as "Watercolor Printing", "Zhejiang Art in a Hundred Years" and "Viewing: Flower and-Bird Sketches" and invite primary and secondary school art teachers working at the grassroots level to participate in those activities free of charge.
