Flexible, innovative, and adaptable bamboo products from Anji county — located in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province — were recently displayed during the World Trade Organization's 2025 Trade and Environment Week, held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The annual event is the biggest public gathering focusing on trade and environmental issues organized by the WTO.

Anji's bamboo products, as a substitute of plastic products, were a highlight of the exhibition, capturing the attention of international delegates and attendees.

The display featured over 100 items, including disposable consumer goods, hotel supplies, daily necessities, office supplies, and handicrafts — all made from bamboo.

Known as the "Hometown of Bamboo in China", Anji boasts over 660 square kilometers of bamboo forests. Over the years, the county has used its bamboo resources as a key ecological asset and has developed a comprehensive value chain for its bamboo industry.

Currently, Anji's bamboo industry generates a total output of nearly 20 billion yuan ($2.79 billion), contributing over 5 percent of the national output with less than 1 percent of the country's bamboo forest area.

Anji's participation in the international event underscores the sustainable development potential of bamboo products, showing their significant role in reducing plastic consumption.
