Yulia, a Russian student at the Communication University of Zhejiang, visited Jiabei subdistrict in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, to explore the beauty of eastern aesthetics.
Situated between Nanhu and Xiuzhou districts, Jiabei is a vital component of the Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development Zone and a vibrant example of the fusion between industry and urban life. The fashion and creative sectors play a significant role here. As of 2024, the area was home to 14 textile businesses, with fashion production accounting for 25 percent of the local industry.
Yulia began her tour at the "Yi+PARK" Fashion Industrial Park, where she tried on a traditional Chinese skirt and a silk scarf featuring the "Bai Niao Chao Feng (A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix)" design. She was captivated by the stories woven into the fabric, describing it as hearing echoes from the ancient Silk Road.
In Jiabei, skilled artisans — from embroiderers to ceramic painters — work with designers to give traditional crafts a modern twist. Whether it's embroidery on clothing or blue-and-white porcelain patterns in jewelry, these old techniques are not just preserved but reinvented for today's world.
