An exhibition titled Silk and the Silk Road: From China to Kazakhstan recently opened at the National Museum of Kazakhstan in Astana as a key event of the opening ceremony of Kazakhstan's "China Tourism Year".

Invited by the China National Silk Museum, Chinese arts and crafts master Lin Xia from Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province exhibited her award-winning embroidery work Yuan: Yansheng alongside several other pieces.

The exhibition is divided into three sections, featuring 145 exhibits, including 21 ancient silk relics such as embroideries from Tang Dynasty (618-907) and Northern Dynasty (386-581). These artifacts vividly trace the rich cultural exchanges along the ancient Silk Road.

Lin's Yuan: Yansheng, displayed in the museum's main gallery, incorporates elements of mulberry, silkworms, silk, and embroidery, demonstrating her reflections on life and reverence for nature, highlighting the elegance and modern appeal of Taizhou embroidery.

Lin also demonstrated traditional Taizhou embroidery techniques, drawing enthusiastic crowds. Celebrities including the China Central Television host Negmat Rahman and actress Bai Bing had a hands-on experience with the embroidery process.

Additionally, Lin participated in a Sino-Kazakh academic forum, where she delivered a keynote on the inheritance and innovation of Taizhou embroidery along the Silk Road.

She shared insights into how the Silk Road influenced early Taizhou embroidery styles and discussed cross-industry integration and heritage preservation strategies.
