A delegation from Russia visited Zhejiang Ocean University in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, from June 12 to 13 to deepen the marine science and education cooperation between China and Russia.
Under the theme "Enhancing China-Russia Marine Cooperation for a Blue Future", the visit featured academic exchanges, site inspections, and the signing of a cooperation agreement.
Russian delegates including Kirill Kolonchin, director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography, and Kirill Rozhdestvenskii, vice-president of the Saint Petersburg State Marine Technical University, met with representatives of Zhejiang Ocean University such as President Wu Chuanyu and Party Secretary Yan Xiaojun.
Yan praised the 10-year partnership between Zhejiang Ocean University and the Russian group, highlighting progress in talent cultivation and recent honorary appointments exchanged between the institutions. Kirill Kolonchin emphasized the strategic value of the visit, noting that the university's research strengths in deep-sea aquaculture, germplasm protection, and resource restoration align closely with Russia's priorities.
The delegation visited Zhoushan's marine biotech base and aquatic research institute on June 13, where they explored fishery processing and aquaculture techniques.
The two sides aim to jointly launch research projects and train globally minded marine professionals, setting a model for international cooperation in fisheries science and education.
