The First Conference of the BRI Tax Administration Cooperation Forum was held in Wuzhen of Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, April 18, 2019.

At the opening ceremony, 34 national (regional) tax authorities jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Tax Administration Mechanism under the Belt and Road Initiative, representing the officialestablishment of the BRI tax administration cooperation mechanism.

The forum was the first high-level international tax administration conference initiated and sponsored by state taxation departments. Heads of 85 national (regional)  tax departments personally or by proxy, as well as representatives from 16 international organizations, academic institutions and multinational corporations, attended the 3-day forum discussing the way to promote tax administration cooperation between countries and regions along the Belt and Road.

With the further promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years, the countries and regions involved enjoyed not only the profit from economy development, but also the benefit from taxation.

This time representatives from 85 countries and regions gathered in Wuzhen for the purpose of establishing a tax administration cooperation mechanism under the Belt and Road Initiative to further benefit transboundary taxpayers.

China has launched a series of tax-relief policies since last year. The annual plan for 2019, to cut 2 trillion yuan in taxes and fees, shows the government's determination to continuously promote the business environment.

The forum will facilitate the tax authorities of participating countries and regions in improving their tax administration capabilities and service performance and ultimately achieve the continuous improvement of business environment.
