Lying to the south of West Lake, Hangzhou, Southern Song Dynasty Guan Kiln Museum, the first ceramics museum in China based on the site of kiln, was opened to the public in 1992 and renovated in 2002.

 

Covering an area of 43,000 square meters and a floor area of 1000 square meters, the museum displays not only the exquisite ceramics of the Southern Song Dynasty, but also its evolvement in China, showing deep culture foundation and superb techniques in ceramic making.

Besides, there are two sites of kilns in the museum, namely Jiaotanxia Kiln Site and Laohudong Kiln Site, showing vividly the ceramic culture in China more than 1000 years ago.

Now, the museum has become a multi-function destination integrating collection of relics, exhibitions, education and recreation, where visitors can experience in-depth ceramic culture of China.
